The Brisbane Disability Expo – Empowering Choice
Doors will open for Inclusion at the Brisbane Disability Expo on November 1st & 2nd, 2019. A welcoming hub for thousands of people, it will be a one stop shop to access the most up to date programs, services, aids, disability equipment and technologies available in the Greater Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Hinterland regions.
“With the National Disability Insurance Scheme now rolled out across most of Queensland, people are understandably cautious about how to utilise their funding to enhance their lives in meaningful and practical ways,” says spokesperson for the Brisbane Disability Expo and Social Impact Institute Senior Advisor Kathryn Carey.
“We deliberately work with representatives from the local disability community, local councils and the NDIS to make sure that each expo offers real solutions and increases inclusion for all people in their own community.”
To meet the demand for more information and give individuals, families and carers the chance to access a broad range of products and services tailored to people with disability, the Social Impact Institute now host Expos across Australia.
Since 2014, more than 10,000 attendees have met face to face with over 1000 exhibitors at Disability Expos organised by the Social Impact Institute in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
At the Expo you can expect a wide range of providers covering specialist services, care, support, aids and equipment to meet your individuals needs and aspirations, replacing the wholesale approach of the past. Representatives from the National Disability Insurance Scheme, local advocacy groups, Government Bodies and key-note guest speakers will offer invaluable insights and advice during live presentations and Q&A sessions during the two-day event.
You can also expect a buzzing atmosphere as result of all-ages entertainment, live inclusive performances, workshops and demonstrations from the latest disability equipment and technology providers.
Now more than ever people with disability are demanding to see, feel, touch and try equipment, products and aids before purchasing, a trend that has been increasingly seen since the introduction of choice and control embedded in the philosophy of the NDIS. And business are responding. Sally Farrow, General Manager Paramobility says “Many quality leads were generated from the people we met”.
Customer satisfaction results from the 2018 line up of Disability Expos have delivered similar positive feedback and a 4.5 star rating out of five for the question “Do you feel that the information provided at the expo will assist you with your ongoing care needs?”

Everyone I saw has gone beyond my expectations… and I am so appreciative of them for going that extra mile,” said one 2018 Sydney expo attendee.
This kind of feedback inspires the Social Impact Institute to keep on bringing metro and regional cities around Australia bigger and better Disability Expos year on year. The Brisbane Disability Expo is an important step in this expansion as the need and demand for disability services, products and technologies in the greater Brisbane region continues to grow rapidly. The Disability Expo is key connector between providers both locally and nationally with people with disability who are planning and accessing services and products for a better future right now.
The Disability Expo is free entry for all attending and will take place at the Royal International Convention Centre between 9am and 3pm on Friday and Saturday, November 1st and 2nd, 2019.
