Visitors to this year’s Brisbane Disability Expo will have the chance to experience television production from the other side of the camera, with abiliTV bringing a working television studio to the expo floor.

abiliTV is a multi-award-winning Australian television and digital series hosted and crewed by people with disability. The program is broadcast nationally through Channel 31 Melbourne, Channel 44 Adelaide, CTV+ and YouTube, sharing stories through lived experience, showcasing people, careers, communities and opportunities from across Australia.

At the Brisbane Disability Expo, abiliTV will transform its stand into an interactive studio where visitors can see how a television program comes together, and even have a go themselves.

Rather than simply watching from the sidelines, expo guests will be invited to step behind the desk, try presenting to camera, experience reading from a teleprompter and learn more about the different production roles that happen behind the scenes. The abiliTV team will also be on hand throughout the expo to talk about the program, its presenters and crew, and the pathways it is helping create for people with disability interested in television and media.

The activation reflects what abiliTV is all about: creating opportunities for people with disability to be seen, heard and involved in telling their own stories.

Visitors will also be able to watch abiliTV content at the stand, meet members of the team and pick up information about the series. A selection of abiliTV merchandise, including T-shirts and caps, will also be available.

Whether you’ve watched abiliTV before or are discovering it for the first time, the Brisbane Disability Expo is an opportunity to see how the show is made, and perhaps even discover your own place in front of, or behind, the camera.

Come and step into the abiliTV studio at the Brisbane Disability Expo and see where ability shines.
